Hi! My name is Amanda Kunard and I am a Certified Health Coach and founder of Go Slim U!, Inc. A Health Coach is a knowledgeable advisor who provides personalized coaching and support to help people make healthy dietary and lifestyle changes. As a Health Coach, I coach people about: the basics of nutrition, attitudes about food, how and when to eat, how to think in a healthy way, and how to integrate healthy habits into their lives. There is so much more that goes into what/how/when we eat than simply being hungry!
In addition to coaching, I am also passionate about educating: what foods are nutritious and what foods are not, things about the food marketplace in the US that you should be aware of, why certain foods are “good for you” or “bad for you”, and how much truth there is in the latest diet trends. This passion springs from two things, (1) my fascination with how amazing our bodies are and how different foods are processed by our bodies, (2) the sad state of the US food industry. To enable me to follow this passion, I have studied Health Coaching at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and also The MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education (C.O.P.E) at Villanova University College of Nursing.
My approach: eating a “perfect” diet doesn’t have to be the goal, but improving your diet step by step should be. For most people, a special diet, such as gluten-free or Paleo, is not needed. I advocate eating plenty of vegetables, and a balance of protein, whole grains and fats, and avoiding fried foods and processed foods. I feel that you don’t need to know every little thing about what you’re eating, but a general understanding goes a long way in helping you reach your health and nutrition goals, and should be within anyone’s reach. I try to make all this stuff as easy as possible, and FUN!
