Hey there! Late post today! I was busy working on SugarSobriety – The First 30 days! I finally got it over to the editor guy I know around 2pm this afternoon! I am so excited! I also wasn’t sure what I was going to write about today until I was scrolling through Facebook and come upon a picture that is just crazy and if it doesn’t help you change your mind about sugar and getting healthy, I am not sure what will!
So, we all know that sugar causes us to get fat, especially Visceral fat. Visceral fat is body fat that is stored within the abdominal cavity and is therefore stored around a number of important internal organs such as the liver, pancreas and intestines. Did you know that fat is also stored in your brain area causing pressure on that organ as well? Take a look at this picture:
This is a before and after picture of someone who lost pounds to weigh in at 120 pounds on the right. Do you see the difference in body fat? Look where it is stored all around your organs and check out the legs. Look at the pressure being put on the knees. Take a look at the brain, see the difference? It may seem like a daunting task to loose weight, however, with that much fat gathering around your organs, it’s worth the effort to loose the weight. This fat isn’t pinch-able folks! It’s inside and actually wraps around your major organs, including the liver, pancreas and kidneys as stated earlier. This fat does more than just sit there and cause your pants to feel tight or in my case feel bloated and can’t hardly tie my shoes! It changes the way your body operates! Check this out:
According to Dr. Axe on draxe.com “Visceral fat is considered toxic and spells double-trouble in the body because it’s capable of provoking inflammatory pathways, plus signaling molecules that can interfere with the body’s normal hormonal functions. In fact, it acts almost like its very own organ since it’s capable of having such a large impact on the body. Fat cells do more than simply store extra calories — they have proved to be much more involved in human physiology than we had previously thought. We now know that fat tissue itself acts like its own organ by pumping out hormones and inflammatory substances. Storing excess fat around the organs increases production of pro-inflammatory chemicals, also called cytokines, which leads to inflammation; at the same time, it interferes with hormones that regulate appetite, weight, mood and brain function.”
What the heck is inflammatory pathways and whats up with that human physiology stuff? So, the Visceral fat actually produces hormones that regulate all kinds of stuff in your body including female hormones, EVEN IN MEN! So, if you are male and have a belly, and some Visceral fat, you probably have bigger boobs than I do! That’s because the Visceral fat is producing female hormones and you are growing breasts! Crazy, huh? It actually makes it harder to loose weight because of it! When you consume simple carbs and processed foods like SUGAR, it creates this Visceral fat in your body. This also puts you at a higher risk for dementia, heart disease, diabetes, depression, mood problems, increased inflammation – should I go on?
Are the sugar and processed foods really worth it? I say NO! Our bodies are amazing machines that never cease to amaze me. When they are full of fat from sugar and processed foods, they don’t work right. So, it affects ALL areas, including your brain and your moods. Do you think your sensitive? Are you overweight? Could be from the fat caused by sugar consumption! Do you think the food companies care about this? Why do you think there are so many people on anti-depressants? I feel so much more even keeled since getting off sugar and removing almost all of the processed foods from my diet. It is amazing! I have only flown off the handle a couple of times this month! Usually it’s everyday!
I cannot stress enough what sugar and processed foods are doing to you. I can stress that it’s our choice to NOT consume them. Once again folks, the food industry is NOT going to stop producing the CRAP that they call food. Learn to shop on the OUTSIDE isles of the store, OR shop at the local Farmers Markets. If you must eat out, plan ahead and choose your foods carefully. The food that is being sold is slowly killing us and we are the ones putting it in our bodies!
Okay, I think I am done with my rant for today! I beg of you to find the motivation to stop. Join this blog, and follow me on my journey. Investigate on your own, it didn’t help to change my mind when others told me what the dangers were. I had to find out on my own. The more I investigate the more I don’t want to go back no matter how much I love cinnamon rolls! NO MATTER WHAT!
It’s 6:50pm on January 29th and I have not consumed sugar today!
Until tomorrow…….
